As in reality, the journey is different for each family; for every caregiver. Debbie DeMoss Compton has once again collected a knowledgeable and caring group of experts to help guide overwhelmed caregivers. She and her co-authors not only invite readers into their own caregiving journeys, they generously share the hard-earned fixes, solutions, and coping techniques they’ve discovered along the way. The encouragement and empathy in these chapters may not be the first thing an overwhelmed caregiver is searching for in a book, but it’s a welcome balm we sometimes forget we need, and reminds us that we are not alone in this experience. ~ Carol Hillegas<\/p>\n
OMG this book should be in all primary care offices and available to all children, parents and any caregiver.<\/p>\n
The format of this book is phenomenal, such a great way to introduce different stories\/scenarios. Personalized experiences, we can all see ourself in someone else\u2019s story. I have found some wonderful advice to help my own patients that are dealing with an aging parent, spouse or family member. Each and every chapter is a wealth of information. I have particularly enjoyed the RESOURCES chapter, it has more information that I even knew about.<\/p>\n
The beauty of this book is that it can also be helpful for anyone who is experiencing personal terminal\/chronic illness or helping a loved one through this journey, though the book is intended for dementia patients. I found the chapter of the father whose daughter contracted herpes encephalitis to be quite moving. The chapter on driving is excellent and helpful, each chapter is well written. This book should have been published years ago, really very insightful and helpful for EVERYONE, sooner or later we will all walk down this path.<\/p>\n
I want to purchase several copies and will have an \u201coffice copy\u201d in the waiting room.<\/p>\n
